The full proceedings published by USENIX for the 31st USENIX Security Symposium, held in Boston on August 10–12, 2022, are available online. Endless hours of recorded talks and hundreds of pages of papers and slides to read. A good place to start is the Distinguished Paper and first-prize Internet Defense Prize winner “OpenVPN is Open to VPN Fingerprinting”, in which researchers from the University of Michigan, Merit Network and Arizona State University identified over 85% of OpenVPN flows at a million-user ISP with only negligible false positives. Their framework also detected connections to 34 of 41 “obfuscated” VPN configurations, so “stealth mode” may be more of a marketing term than a feature.
