@Laughing_Mantis published a thread on a drone based attack via Wi-Fi. Incident response started based on suspicious activity on a Confluence server. The team discovered two modified DJI drones with Wi-Fi equipment on the roof. Both were basically carrying a tiny computer, a battery pack, a modem and a Wi-Fi device. The Register’s write-up adds that a DJI Phantom with a modified Wi-Fi Pineapple had captured an employee’s credentials a few days earlier, which were then hard-coded into the tools carried by a DJI Matrice 600. The giveaway was that employee’s MAC address showing up on the office Wi-Fi while they were logged in from home several miles away.
Similar ideas have already been proposed, e.g., at BlackHat Europe 16.
